Rob Morey

Glass artist Rob Morey comes from a background of sculpture in stone, wood, and bronze. He graduated from California State University, Stanislaus in 1995 with a B.A. in Fine Arts, with an emphasis in sculpture. During his last year in college Rob worked as an assistant under several Bay Area sculptors.

Ultimately, Rob's early art career led him to teaching at the high school level as well as adult community education programs, which he still does from time to time. Rob has taught photography, drawing, computer graphics, and animation. "I enjoy teaching because I feel as if I am leaving a piece of myself with each student. It is extremely rewarding when a former student tells me that they have chosen a career in the arts because of their experience in my class. It has always been my goal in life to make a difference…to leave something behind."

In June 2002, while visiting one of his previous high school students who was involved in glass fusing, Rob found himself drawn to the medium. He fell in love with the way the light and the glass seemed to dance together, interacting with each other. Rob took an introductory class and immediately felt at home with the process. He began taking glass-fusing classes all over the west coast with some of the best artists in the business. He then invested in all of the tools of the trade and, in September 2002, began his journey of kiln-working glass. Today, Rob Morey is creating some of the most unique fused glass around while teaching various levels of glass fusing and casting.
